First off wewlcome to the Forum and post up what Jeep you are getting and some pics as well

You're going to get a lot of answers to this question. I drive a 6 speed and I love it on and off the road. If I could tho I would love to talk my wife into selling her truck and getting a Rubi auto with half doors and have the best of both worlds

I wanted a manual, ended up with an auto, and would have been happy with either. My auto is on a 50K used rig, and I just had it serviced and the tech said everything looked like a new rig.

I think you can go either way and not regret it. As for economy, I am not sure that is valid, as my real world MPG is comparable to any I have seen posted on this site for a manual.

Also, I have seen folks complain that mud and clutches do not mix well on the JK, but I don't know all the details there.

I got a manuel and am glad I did. I like being able to put it in the gear I want where the autos cant do this. Now I have not done any rock crawling but I like what I have. Plus it is also my daily driver and I drive back roads so no stop and go.

If I had to do stop and go for a DD I might have picked a stick but I am happy with my choice.

I suggest that you drive each one with different gear ratios. I have a rubi with 4:10 and the experience with a stock x with 3:21 might be a different driving experience.

Default manual

Rubicon 4low= no clutch needed even to use starter just turn the key if you are in 1,2,3 just turn key and go no need to slip the clutch

if you live in the city, get the auto....otherwise, don't even consider it...jeeps are meant to be shifter manually
