Sounds like society in British Columbia (which I am SURE is a VERY beautiful place) really cares about it's safety! Thus strict legislation to keep it that way!

I hope the ignition interlock device costs you a huge amount of money and inconvenience, that way you think about your actions in the future. I have been in law enforcement for over 19 years and have seen the results of people drinking and driving, in money, blood, and lost lives. Hopefully you learn from the experience, but from this quote, looks like you haven't thought of the seriousness and are blaming everyone but yourself.

Yes it was my fault I'm not saying it wasn't? It's a long story and if I told all of you it wouldn't matter or help me? I just want to know a little more about how they install this thing, done right with solder or scotch locks? Like come on if it's being installed at a tire shop I think I should worry a little bit, why can't a dealer install it? I have no problem with all of this I do deserve it and my buddy should of got a cab or something, I have lost friends from drinking and driving too and it's one thing to have two beer and drive than it is to have 12? And it's not a DUI it's a roadside suspension? I had nothing to hide I just wasn't very impressed the way the officer treated me because of who I was with, as soon as my buddy was gone he was a totally different guy, even ended up giving me and my other friend a ride home

Sounds like many of you get off to acting like a perfect citizen from behind the computer screen

I'm perfect, I piss excellence.

To answer the OPs question, I think your at the mercy of the court as to where and who installs it. You just get to pay for it. I'd be concerned if your getting it done at Tire shop.... I'd watch them like a hawk. Maybe they will install it wrong and it won't work.

Well, some of you guys might wanna step off your high horses. He made a big mistake, gonna end up paying for it, and was asking advice on the breathalyzer thing.
My neighbor had to have one installed on his truck, don't know what was involved, but he's a mechanic and said it was really no big deal as far as affecting anything except the ability to start. He did say something about if you didn't blow hard enough or correctly even sober it wouldn't start. And you have to wait awhile for it to reset or somethin after so many tries.

And yes, in response to the OP question, it's no more complicated than an alarm system that disables the ignition. No damage will happen to your rig as long as a decent installer does it.
