Class of 2012
Picked up my silver '12 JKU Sport back in May. Traded in my '00 Xj. Love my new JKU. Haven't been able to do much to her yet ( that work - wife - and kids thing ) so for now DD. And just over 9000 miles no problems with her at all.
I want to remove my doors eventually... need to figure the logistics for storage though... but once I do!!!
I have mine off all the time, built a door rack from instructions on this site and roll them out of the way and put a bbq grill cover over them, perfect fit. I do have to replace a broken door hinge mirror though. Stored them under the rear seat and when I laid the seats down, crack - uhh ohh

Do you mind posting some pics of your mods? I'm interested in the switches as I'll eventually add some lights etc... that will require the switches and I'm always looking for ideas.
I've always been an aficionado of MB Quart speakers... what model did you use and did you have to do much in the way of modifying to fit them? I have the Infinity system that came with the vehicle and not really looking to changing out the head unit but was toying the idea of changing out the speakers. I know with past vehicles... though the manufacturer puts the Infinity, Rockford Fosgate, or Alpine names on the system... usually it means the system was designed by that organization but the actual components are not products of Infinity, RF, or Alpine etc...
Also, when you mentioned moving the vacuum pump... I think that also needs to be done for some of the aftermarket front bumpers. Is that what you were referring to?

ill have to look for the model number - i did a fair amount of "TRIMMING" to get the tweeters to fit - i think it looks fine w/ the MB Quart trim ring installed. In my experience when a car mfg has a well known branded audio system MOST of what is done is LICENSING AND STICKERS. that mopar infinity amp option is pathetic - 75w TOTAL...in my f350 im driving 75 watts (rms) per channel...via JL Slash amps....i cant imagine having LESS and still hearing QUALITY sound w/ a top off.
yeah the brake vac pump is mounted to the frame extension behind the bumper on the drivers side...on a WELDED bracket....
i sawsall'd the bracket off and drilled a hole in it and bolted back in place once i had the tow-bar base plates installed.
more easily and take it in the motorhome....ill have to get photos of it later (its in the garage w/ our motorcoach).
500 km, 2 weeks... been checking every passing Jeep out for the last 5 years, thought if this insanity doesn't go away I'll have to buy one. So finally here we go, flame red 2012 JK Sport 2 door, Auto, Renegade package. Still have the old Suzuki Swift, thought I'll drive it to shops and work until sold. Never touched it since I've got the Jeep..
Enjoying the feeling of being tall, big and powerful on the road around all the minis and carollas. Still to take it off-road, couldn't find anywhere I could get off the pavement in Sydney.
The "Jeep thing" stuff that I just had to accept were a few. Apparently they import only renegade packaged ones to Australia so you get a Jeep with a soft top inside the hard top. Now I must find a special screw driver and someone to help me to remove the hard top to remove the soft top and reinstall the hard top back. Then there are rather sizable part left to store. Petrol consumption is double of that of my old Suzuki, was shocking to watch it going 40, 50, 60 (litres) at the pump, but it was expected. Only 2 passengers at the back and very hard for them to get in and out. Very little space in the boot. I guess best would be to remove the back seat at all and think of it as a two seater.
Any "classmates" around Sydney (Australia)?
Cheers.

Again welcome, hope you can find a good group of people around Sydney to go wheelin' with.
pictures of speakers, switches and towbar are linked in the posting #88 (above)

I built a STAND for my doors - similar to a 125 dollar one that ive seen on the internet....only mine folds FLAT so i can store it

I'll have to search for the link on building a stand... that is an idea.
my door stand -
Its built to go sit on a 15 dollar 4 wheel furniture dolly.
Painted contact points will be padded w/ pipe insulation or weather strip foam (stick on).

I used this 165 dollar example as a model / idea.
Folding the stand means its easily stored or packed in the back of the jeep, corner of the garage or basement storage of our motorcoach.
