Does made in the USA matter?
How about state sponsored manipulation of international trade.
600 sq foot dormitories housing a 8 or more employees earning $300 a month for their 80+ hour, 7 day work weeks.
Violations of international child labor agreements and conditions that in this country would put factory owners in jail.
It's not the chines people who are at fault, it's their government and the foreign companies that would tolerate the working conditions that wouldn't be accepted in their home countries.

Sorry, I forgot that harmful products have never neither been made nor sold in the US. Dude, I'm not trying to pick a fight, just pointing out that things might not always be an "us vs. them" type thing. I completely understand supporting people you like. I always buy vehicle parts from my best friend's dad, because I'm biased in who I like supporting.
But I'm smart enough to separate that I buy from him because I choose to like him, based on quality and content of character, not that I should feel pressured to buy from him because he has light colored skin like me and happened to be born in closer proximity than someone else. But it's my opinion, different than yours, and I know that I should never tell you whom to buy from, it's your choice man. If you like buying stuff made closer to you, go for it. Just the same don't try pressuring me to do what you do with non-objective reasoning, it's not cool.
----Answering the OP: Cost/ROI is what it's all about for me. If you have the better product and better price, I'll try doing business with you. But that includes extraneous costs too. Like avoiding language barriers, delivery times, currency exchanges, etc. So in short yes, economics is everything but a sense of security, ease of doing business and friendliness of customer service can easily make up for some dollar differences. Got any new Jeep stuff comin' out?

That's what influences me when it comes to letting go of my cash!
I continue to be skeptical of the quality of any products manufactured in a number of foreign countries.
I've happily paid more for products and services from businesses that I know have high quality products and excellent customer service. Occasionally I place customer service above quality if I know the business will back their products/services. But hey, that's just me!

I would much rather buy products made in US or Canada than made in China. In my experience North American products are of higher quality, better workmanship, more durable materials, and last longer with less problems. I don't mind paying more money for a part if i know its made in the US or Canada because i know i'll be buying something that is made better. i was given a good piece of advice once from a friend that goes "pay cheap, pay twice" meaning if you buy the the cheaper part you'll end up having to pay more later because the part might malfunction or break due to lesser quality. Its been true for me many times.
I don't agree with your argument, but you're welcome to it. People sometimes forget that steel itself is a manufactured component and its quality varies considerably. At the same time the distaste that people have is not just over quality (because there is not always a difference), but also over the economics. There is a massive redistribution of wealth going on, because China artifically deflates their dollar and that doesn't mention the other unfair trade practices. Meanwhile, our leadership (and I use that term lightly) has for decades closed their eyes and stuck their fingers in their ears.
