Default Doors off freeway

Hey this is my first wrangler and i'm loving it! I've taken the doors and the top off already and was wondering how safe is it to drive on the freeway like that? Driving around on the streets is ok but i donno how windy and crazy it'll get on the freeway.

Well it can get windy. Just don't fall out of the Jeep.

Better than a motorcycle, you don't have to keep balance.

X2 on the windy. I find it much harder to eat nachos on the freeway than around town. Extra cheese helps a little.

Really you are probably safer on the freeway. even though you are (generally speaking) travelling faster, there's much less chance of a t bone collision. Which is where the lack of doors MAY prove problematic. Depends what hits you & how hard .

Buckle in and hold on. Also, watch the floor mats in the back.

I just be extra-careful since I don't have the mirror brackets placed yet (read= no side mirrors).

Just keep the windshield up. Keeps bugs out of your teeth.

Are side mirrors mandatory?

You should have your seatbelt on, so don't worry about falling out - the belts will hold you in place. As was written above, make sure that anything loose is weighted down or otherwise secured (rear floormats, soft-top windows, etc.). I use bungee cords or else put something heavy on top of the "blow-away" hazards.

My wife is scared to ride when I take the doors off... she thinks it's unsafe, and neither she nor I have driven on the highway with doors off, although I have driven a couple busy multi-land roads at high speed. IMO, the biggest danger is temporary disorientation if you look down at the road to the side of you and get your sense of balance distorted... other than that, you'll be fine. Enjoy!
