I am dragging my jk at the co. fair mud drags tomorrow. I dont plan to win but I do plan to have fun. I did it 5-6 years ago in my blazer and actually won but I would'nt call it mud drags it was more like dry dirt drags.

I say go for it.
If nothing else you will have a fun time at the drags checking out cars and shooting the shit with other car lovers. Who knows you may love it and decide to buy a track car that you can tow to events with your jeep.
