Default Gas Mileage

So I purchased a 2007 JKU with 40000 about 3 weeks ago. On the way home (completely stock might i add) I got 21.6MPG Highway. Since then Ive gotten a 2.5 inch teraflex coil lift but that is my only real exterior mod (that would make a difference) ... Everything else is interior. Well on my way to college on the highway I was getting 17mpg which I'm fine with however now that I'm in town and driving around I'm getting 9-10 mpg... Thats just ridiculous I could maybe see if I was running like 35 or 37's or something but just with the Moab take off 255/70/17 i believe it is I think I should be getting way better. Am I just crazy? I got better in my jeep commander with lift and 32's... Btw I have an automatic with 4.10 gears.

my point exactly... i think i should definitely be getting at least 14... i read that people get 13-14 all the time with 35's... I wouldn't even expect this mileage when i get my 35's and super chip...

I have 35s and a 3.5" lift and I get about 12 mpg.

I assume you've reset your MPG thing on the speedometer to make sure it is really reading 9-10 ?

3.21s and 35s and I net about 18mpg... Check your ebrake make sure it's not hung up... And check your brakes as well, you said you bought it used with 40k? Could have a caliper hung up causing is to drag... And pull right or left if you take your hand off the wheel?

Edit: if all your doing is driving around town you might my notice a hung brake as much as on the highway.

Yes of course I have reset it probably 3-4 times now because I'm in disbelief.

I'll have to look into this all more... I know its not the Ebrake but idk about calibers although it doesn't pull either way and is all aligned.

when you installed the lift, did you remove the front air dam and leave it off? That will affect mileage. Are the tires still stock or did you change - you mentioned Moab take-offs.

are you using 87 octane? I know, dumb question but when I traveled recently, I noticed some of the gas stations regular was actually 85 or 86.
