Did I do the right thing or should I just minded my own business?
As long as he didn't have a date with him, good call. Saved him some trouble in the future.

X2 here. I always offer to help. If they say "no", then I have no guilt telling them the problems they are about to face before walking off.

Default Great Job!

Not only did you give the guy help when he needed it you showed him a good example of the kinda people that are in the jeep community. May have made another "jeep for life" guy in the process.

When i was younger (alot younger) I had a guy cross I-10, wheeled across the grass median to help me out on the side of the road in my 89. Had a jeep ever since.

With my 2010 Wrangler came a DVD that explain basic things like 4wd the tops and all. It was awesome at showing how to put on and take off the top. it had a nice step by step with a guy demonstrating.

And I think you did the right thing showing the guy how to do it. Otherwise, he would have messed the top up eventually folding it down like that.

Could it have been a rental? The soft tops on all the rental wranglers in Hawaii are all jacked up and obviously they don't care, which is too bad.

I have a similar story. Every time I go for a run in my neighborhood, I would pass this silver Rubicon Unlimited parked out in front of this salon filled with super hot 25-35 year old gals....I'll admit that his fact made me even more eager to provide assistance.

I would always notice that the plastic retainer on the rear windows was never properly tucked into the channel, and they would be flapping away from the door. So, I swung into the salon, asked if it was someone's Jeep parked out front, at which she replied, uh oh, what happened.

I told her I have a similar Jeep and if she would like me to help her with her soft top....she eagerly followed my outside and proclaimed how she was having so much trouble with the soft top, that she never took the time to take it down.

After a 15 minute JK tutorial....she gave me a free haircut, my wife now goes there for her hair, and they're now friends.

...I thought it was a pretty cool scenario all derived from the vehicle I drive.

Of course you did the right thing. I was thinking he was going to get offended and tell you off or something thats why your asking our opinion if you did the right thing. Sorta unnecessary asking now is it. No need to rub it in being a good samaritan.
LOL Jk. Love Jeep people.

I always wished they would make a flap or something in the carpet to store the windows so keeps them safe. I always have to keep them at home and sucks if Im somewhere and get stuck in rain.
