Default Manual Transmission Problem????

Wondering if anyone else has had this happen.
On numerous occassions when starting from a stop in 1st gear the transmission has just thrown the gear shift into neutral.
The car starts to pull away before this happens so it is obviously in gear.
I read another post from back in March where somebody mentioned their transmssion popping into neutral.

Any ideas if this is problem or is it just me??? (although my girlfriend originally said she has never had it happen to her up until a few days ago when it did finally happen to her)

Thanks
At least I can point the dealership in the right direction since I find the same thing always happens as other people have stated, if they can't make it happen the problem doesn't exist

I have the problem... even replaced the inner shift boot... it is still happening.
I have been told that it is the synchronization... I guess it it a fluke think that happens from time to time... I guess BMW has the same problem.

I am waiting to take it in until I can get an acquaintance of mine to put a word into my service writer and the dealerships head mechanic... that way I don't have to be without for an extended period of time while they drive it in circles trying to get it to happen. (it is hit and miss~ sometimes it only happens once in a week- sometimes it happens at every stop light....)
Last time I took it in, they had it for 3 days and it didn't do it...
I got my Jeep back with my rear floor mats missing.
I really don't like the local dealership~~~> Bunch of idjiots

It probably is a synchro. Its my understanding that if you have a bent misaligned shift fork, like a lot of these do, and you don't get it fixed in time it will wear out the synchro.

Lol, I can't take credit for it. A friend of mine ,who is a Chrysler transmission tech, explained it to me. He was also quite adamant about only running the proper OEM suggested fluid in our transmissions. He said they grilled it into them in their training on that transmission. IIRC, it also had to do with the syncros that Mercedes uses in that transmission.

So what we've got as potential problems without any certainty are:

- boot
- shifter fork
- synchro

This should be fun.....NOT
