My 2cents. Your mind was already made up before you EVER even made this post, so why even? I am taken back to about a year ago (or longer) when a certain JK-forum member made a post about his Jeep and all the fancy mods and great stuff he had from his great access of money and even went on so far in the arguments to offer to post his W-2's SO everybody could see what he made and what he had. It got ugly. And I almost believe it got locked out cause of the back/forth arguments it caused on this forum.

Why does this thread remind me of that?

Gee...

Ayup, very reminiscent.

No problem, i wasn't sure. I know everyone has their own reasons, i just listed mine.

Separately:
I have some friends who are thinking the same thing...

better to trade in and up to gain some mods and no miles... or build up and keep the thing most of the bugs are worked out of... I don't think there is an overall right answer,it's a judgment call on each ones part.

Like the OP's post. He can do either, though obviously 99.99% mind made up, seems to be having some kind of misgivings (not unlike the rest of us would have) and was either looking for justification/acceptance or the opposite side of the coin point of view (which he got and then some)

I am trying hard to ignore the silver spoon part, and look at the boiled down question because the first part IMO is a separate topic.
To me, i see this as the guts of the question:

"Do i ditch a modded Sahara for an Unmodded new Rubicon? Money isnt an issue the trade is Even-up. What would you do?"

Me? at my given mod level, I'd trade.

If going from a modded Sahara to a Rubicon is going to make you happy, then do it, but here's a question: You've said you are going to be giving the Sahara to your brother. You've also said you have all the stock parts. So are you going to bust it back down to stock before you give it to him??

Maybe I'm a little slow. The way I'm reading this, you're saying you don't have a rear D44??? How is that possible?
You are absolutely correct in your reading.

I DO NOT HAVE A D44 IN THE REAR OF MY 2007 SAHARA. I HAVE A D35.

That is because NOT all '07 Saharas came with the D44's in the rear. Period. They Didnt. Some of them came from the factory with old stock D35's. I am one of the unlucky ones who got boned with one.

It never crossed my mind to actually stick my head under there and look, why would I? I was under the impression they all had D44's as well. Well, when i did notice it, it was way to late.
From My Build Sheet:
DGBS All 4-Speed Automatic Transmissions
DGV 4-Spd. Automatic VLP 42RLE Trans
DHES Man Shift-on-the-Fly Transfer Case
DJRS Next Gen. Dana 30 Solid Front Axle
DMFP 4.10 Axle Ratio
DRYP Next Gen. Dana 35 Solid Rear Axle
DS7S Conventional Differential Frt Axle
DS8S Conventional Differential Rear Axle
EGT 3.8L V6 SMPI Engine
...and before anyone says to go out and look

this is my rear axle:

Your Jeep is the only D35 one I have seen, I never did see one on the lot when I was looking for mine. I did know that a few D35s made it out, so when I was shopping for mine the first thing I would do is check the rear axle, I absolutely did not want another D35 (like I had on my TJ). Maybe you'll get lucky and find a cheap used D44 from a non Rubi, or even do the Rubi D44 swap which really isn't that bad a cost for what you get. I'll be doing the front of mine at some point.

Yeah, i feel special. it's like a collectors item.

I dont know what I am going to do right now. I want D44's, but cant swing it right now. I would rather swap them out now, and maybe get a few bucks out of what I have, but will probably just run them until i break them, then piss & moan about it and replace them then.

I know they beefed up the D30 for the JK, I would assume they did the same for the D35, so you might find it'll hang in there. I'll bet if you try to break it it will last the life of the Jeep

Well the reason he wants mine is because of all the things i have done to it so far. I am ok with driving a stock jeep, but he dosent want one unless its moded from the start so it all works out. But i am gonna swap exhausts once i get my new jeep. Im leaving the lift/wheels/tires/mats/ and all that jazz but im gonna take my gas cap, and my exhaust.
