Default Stone chips already!

Is this a problem for us jeep owners who dive on the highway? My jeep is a every day driver and we do about 30 highway miles every day. It seems like every stone on the highway finds its way to my windshield! Never had this much of a problem with my other vehicles. Is this due to the more upright position of the windshield? or the height of my jeep? or maybe both? Or is it just my dumb luck?

The upright position has been my theory. A more direct hit vs a glancing blow.

I posted this link in another thread tonight. I don't know alot about this but it is interesting

I'm on the "upright position" wagon as well. I've had my JK since the end of Sept and I already need a new windshield...one decent size crack and at least 8 pits already

I'm the same. Goind to work, I caught a tree limb or something and put a silver dollar dent in my windshield. Had to have it replaced.

As far as ctaching rock, even my paint is showing signs of wear and tear. I'll need to get a quart of touch up paint soon for all the chips.

I've got a clear bra kinda deal on mine, and it's protected the paint great, I highly recommend it.

I do need to get some touch up paint for where I rubbed my pretty painted Sahara fender up against a rock though

The clear bra should work on that as well...on my Jeep it covers the front grill, around the windshield, and the fronts of all 4 fenders. I still have my Sahara side steps on, and I know they catch a lot of the crap coming off the road, but everything that is covered with the 3M clear stuff still looks perfect

My first stone chip happened the day after I picked up the Jeep, and with not another vehicle on the road.
The tires pick up rocks and send them forward out the gap between the fender and the front bumper, and the Jeep drives right into it.
The other prime impact area for me is the rear door hinges (on a 4 door). I'm on my second bottle of touch-up paint. Damn mud terrain tires!

I learned the 3 second rule, and the 4 second rule. Instead of following 2 seconds behind th ecar infront of me, i folow 3 or 4 now. WAY fewer flying objects. Some things will always hit your jeep, but this seems to minimize it.

If you are from New York/New Jersey/Boston, you can find out about the "2 second rule" on Google... **just joking!**
