I just wish they'd release a part # for it so those of us who didn't get the under hood insulation can add it after the fact.

I'd rather not find out in 3 years that missing insulation = discolored paint job on the hood.

I've got the insulation but no light or even the harness. Mine is an early November build.

March build Sahara. Has mat, but no under hood light. Would have liked to have the light and it looks like it was designed to have one. No cable either though

I have the harness but no light and have a question if I get a light attached will there be any other electrical work to do. How will the light turn on and off without some sort of hood sensor.

I was on the Jeep site just this morning using the comparison tool.
The hood insulation is not a standard feature on "X" models but is on Sahara.

My X does not have the insulation, build Feb. 2007.

My KJ had the insulation but every time after wheeling it was one big mud soaked sponge. Never really got it clean even after hosing the heck out of it.

KJ had no under hood light either. I have a compact fluorescent flashlight with adapter that I use at night if needed. It is mobile and provides better illumination.

What's the true benefit of the hood insulation?
Engine noise?
Engine temp?

I wonder if it helps the hoods rigid ness.

P.S. I don't have the insulation or light.
