Default Warning for improper tires?

Got a speeding ticket today, but the trooper also gave me a warning for improper tires. It's the kind I have to have another law enforcement officer sign and then mail back in. I run a 285/75/16 bfg at. How can these be improper? It's certainly not an issue when I have the jeep inspected every year. Any one dealt with this before? Any Charlotte, NC area law enforcement on the forum willing to sign off on this for me?

I would say its tire coverage law. Look up the code on the ticket.

that's what i was thinking too - the back spacing on your wheels probably have your tires sticking out past your fenders.

Did you ask him what makes it improper? I think in some places the tire cannot stick out so far past the fender but dunno in your situation.

The warning was on the same printed page as the ticket. I didn't see what it was for until I was parked, so I wasn't able to ask him. Didn't think tire coverage was an issue in NC.

This country is circling the drain.

No need to wonder why it's going broke too, paying infantile egomaniacs to chase shit like this.

Just a thought. Are you running with a corrected speedometer? Your tires are 33's and the dealers can usually only adjust the speedometer up to 32" tires. If the trooper gave you a speeding ticket and thought it might be because your speedometer was off due to larger tires, I could see how he might issue a warning for "improper tires" possibly being the cause. Speedometer accuracy is not one of the items on the inspection checklist I would imagine.

Also, If the pictures in your photo album are representative of your tires and wheels at the time of the ticket, then I cannot imagine tire coverage is the issue.

Those are my thoughts anyway.
