The dealer called me (he knows I'm always looking) and said he had a silver 08 Sahara - MSRP 27820 - 6spd - NAV for $20778. That's with the $2k rebate. I didn't bite, but was thinking maybe I should have. I told him to look for a JK with certain upgrades, but I haven't heard back from him. Probably should have jumped.

They will deal.

Right on. I really do encourage anyone on the fence to buy a new vehicle now unless you are in imminent danger of being laid off. Right now everyone is somewhat fearful, but anyone could lose there job at any minute in any field of work.

I second the idea of getting an Internet price quote. I did this when I bought my JK back in May mainly because a) I didn't have time to drive around and go to a bunch of different dealers and b) I am not good with sales people (had I actually gone into a dealership looking for a JK and intending to pay cash, I'd probably walk out with 2 JKs, both financed at 20% and a written agreement to buy trade up every six months).

Anyway, I found one on just about every lot in the area I was interested in, emailed the dealerships telling them exactly which one it was (VIN#, stock #), telling them I would not be financing, and what day I would be interested in picking it up. A couple of the dealers tried playing games, some dealers didn't get back to me quick enough, and a few dealers got back to me with a price.

The best price won. The next day I showed up at the dealership when I told them I would with check in hand and about 10 minutes later I was driving away in my new JK. Seriously, 10 minutes. I recommend the internet quote process to anybody willing to listen.

If people are really getting a few grand off now, I wish I could have waited 7 months to get mine. But unfortunately, the guy who totaled my previous car in my parking lot wasn't on my schedule.

Thats the best way, walking in there with a check in hand. This way they can play NO games with the financing, the love to play games when you need their money

I've been checking prices for a few months now and they really have dropped. I local dealer is offering $5,000 off MSRP on all 08 unlimiteds. I would buy , but they are all 1/2 door models though. I found a dealer in Georgia that has an unlimited for $16,920 + another $400 in fees, I may take a road trip for that one. Keep searching there are deals to be found!!

Just my opinion here. nobody can predict the future. The "BIG THREE" is in trouble and need to move vehicles. So the buyer should have a position of strength right now. If ya want a new JEEP now is the time to take advantage of your strength. Let's face it none of ya are getting any younger. Ya never know how much longer you are gonna b around so seize each day get all the good outa this day that you can. Hell around here you're liable to catch a stray bullet from the gang bangers.

Looks like if you want a jeep you might wanna do it now... and buy off the lot... Chrysler is Idleing all their factories for an entire month and most analysts are predicting they keep them closed longer than the Jan 19th reopen date announced... I told you it is only a matter of time before they start going back up in price... if there is going to be any time that they do it will be soon since supply will be down.
