Nice price. You could have some fun with them them on the lot when they show you the Rubicon, pull out the ad and say no, you want to see the Rubican like in the ad.

If they are like any other dealer I've dealt with in the past, when I show up on the lot they will say "Sorry, only the RubicAns are on sale, not the RubicOns... The Rubicons are only discounted $200 today."

They are working on numbers for my trade now.

When I signed papers on my 09 Rubicon last night, the dealer called my attention to the AARP incentive program. I'd dismissed it before as I wasn't old enough to join AARP.

Wrong. Minimum age to join apparently is now 40. Spent $12 to sign up online, printed out the membership car, gave them a copy and they added a $1000 rebate to the deal.

I take delivery in the morning; closing loan at credit union this afternoon. After its in my hands I'll post the details.

Here's why I chose a 2009 model over a 2008, even though an 08 would have been less $$$ out the door:

Hard top front center latch moved in 09 to engage the windshield loop (which I think was moved to the left). My guess is to reduce the chances of a leak; I know there are lots of 08's and 07's with no leaks, but they don't make a change like that for no reason.

Apparently the 2009 mygig nav radio (RER) now supports an ipod interface cable (82211853); I've not validated this yet. Will possibly find out tomorrow if the dealer has the cable on hand (not holding my breath).

A 2009 has a higher intrinsic value than a 2008; in two weeks all 08's will be year old Jeeps in the eyes of any potential buyer or insurance adjuster when they do blue book values. This isn't "bad", just understand that part of the additional discount on a 2008 vs a 2009 is due to this difference in intrinsic value. Consider if five years ago you'd bought a 2003 vs 2004 model; check the Edmunds or KBB differences. Be sure to factor this difference in when comparing pricing on 08's vs. 09's.

That is the Associate member correct? And they still gave you the rebate? One dealer asked me if I was a member of AARP and asked if I was born on or before '58. (No and No - close, but...). I assumed you have to be 50 and a full member. I could definitely use that extra 1000 bucks!

UPDATE: I just checked Jeep.com. AARP gets me EP, not an extra $1000. It still helps if I'm eligible.

I knew it was too good to be true... apparently this pricing is for Walmart employees and relatives of chrysler employees. F'n dealers, its always the same BS... You'd think they would be doing anything to rid themselves of the '08 stock, all things considered.

Working them over to try and get 8k off, but I don't think they will go that far.

Here is what I posted on another thread, got my 09 Rubicon for around $30K, MSRP was $37K.

"Work your dealer on the 09' they really need to sell right now Chrysler is down 42% in the market, keep reminding them this. I did not get any "rebates" on my 09 but I ended up getting it at 2% below invoice, a very favorable trade in value and better financing then I should of for my credit score. Then again my field of work is purchasing negotiations so I had an upper hand with them and an advantage over the common buyer. Keep working them I had to walk out 5 times to get the deal I wanted but they did it. Remind them of how long the Jeep has been on the lot, mine had been on the lot for 65 days when they sold it to me. I kept reminding them that they were not going to sell it anytime soon if they did not sell it to me.

Oh yeh and there were upgrades Rails and a Mopar bumper that we worked out of the deal. When they called me to schedule a time to have them removed I negotiated with them further and got 100 dollars off plus no tax on the upgrades. Haggle, haggle and more haggle with dealerships, you'll get the deal you deserve if you do. "

I'd go to a different dealer. They're obviously really shady and you'll end up getting burned. Does it say that fact anywhere in the ad? If not, you could report it to the state attorney general as fraudulent advertising.

I just bought a new '08 Detonator Yellow Unlimited this week and with rebates and haggling, saved over $6,000 off sticker. The dealer I worked with was willing to deal. I pick it up Monday!
