Colorado Trip Pictures [LOTS OF PICS]
Thanks for sharing those pics! Looks like a great vacation. We did our second annual Ouray 4th of July camping trip at beginning of month. Ouray is my favorite area to wheel thus far. Nothing hard, but the scenery is just amazing. I feel so lucky to live within 6 hours of this place.
Next time you go to Ouray make sure you do Poughkeepsie Gulch off of Engineer's Pass. It has some fun wheeling obstacles and spectacular view of Lake Como.
A couple of shots:
Climbing up Poughkeepsie Gulch wall ...

View of Lake Como from above along the trail...

Poughkeepsie Gulch is on the list to do - not sure how I'd fare without lockers, but worst case scenario, I get the chance to try out the winch if all else fails
. Sweet pics by the way! Last edited by interceptor_1972; Jul 28, 2010 at 09:26 AM.
As for DSLRs, here's my two cents: Buy a mid-cost DSLR (T2i or 7D) and invest the money saved in one or two nice lenses, maybe a zoom and one prime. For Canon, that means buying "L" series lenses. The lens makes a big difference in picture quality. Good luck with the purchase, you won't regret it. Thanks for the compliment on the pics.
Dude, that's always the case isn't it? Each time I go up there, I think to myself that there just isn't enough time....Anyhows, you could definitely make it up Poughkeepsie without lockers if you pick the right line.

, but nevertheless, I still plan on doing Poughkeepsie Gulch my next time back there (let's just hope there's a group so if I end up on the wrong line, there's help and guidance
).I did look at the T2i initially, but seeing as it's in the $799 (body only) - $899 (kit lens) range, I wasn't too thrilled. I know, it has nice specs, but may be a bit more on the higher end side for my needs at the moment - the D5000 on the other hand is a little closer to the range ($620.00 online with the kit 18-55mm lens) which leaves me room to get the 55-200mm lens or the 70-300mm lens or a 35mm lens and still stay relatively under $1K. But I might look into it more - still undecided on the Canon - Nikon deal and have not yet completely ruled out the Pentax K-x or Panasonic Lumix series either. The Canon and Nikons both have good solid reviews and I know they both have their own set of loyalists, but what I do like about the D5000 is the fact that it has a tilt LCD for the tougher shots. Thanks for the suggestions though; the 7D might be a touch out of budget for me at this point
. And a beautiful state you have for sure. Our plans for next year is to check out Utah - Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion as far as National Parks go, then MOAB (goes without saying) to St. George, Monument Valley - Grand Canyon to Ogden and Salt Lake. And I'm going to try my best to make the trip going through Ouray and hit a few trails before going into Utah. You definitely owe it yourself to check out the southwestern side - it's just spectacular.
. Someday, I'd sure love to move there myself
. I've been refining my photo collection from Colorado the last few days and set a bunch of them as desktop backgrounds and screen savers. Everytime I see it, I just feel the urge to go back out there.

. But jokes aside, you'll love it - awesome place!
