I was thinking about that I'm from Mexico, and I have made that trip a few times, its a beautifull place to visit, it is true that things are pretty bad right now (I had never seen so much violence) but also as Rafi mentions no body is out to get tourists, I know there have been a few situations with tourists, but bad things happen every where. As he said try to stay on the main highway, don't travel at night and use common sense. I could even put you in contact with friends that live all across baja and are four wheelers in case you want to go four wheeling you guys mentioned not coming down here, but I live here, and yes i drive a jeep and go off roading every weekend by the way 1000s of Americans still live in baja.

Yes i go down to Baja every year. Have never had any problems. Everyone has their own opinion on the subject, and thats fine. I look forward to are vacations down south. The family and I go fishing and drive are lance camper down pulling the boat. Last July we spent 4 weeks, drove almost all the way to cabo, to a place called Los Barriles (East Cape). I think it would be an awesome trip to take jeeps and check out some awesome beaches specially on the Sea of Cortez. Another good spot La Bocana has excellent fishing during October, November. Spend a day out fishing and another day on the trails. Any ways thats my 2 cents, and i hope he does drive down their to check it out. Guaranteed good time. Shoot me a PM if you decide to do this.... Im in

As far as safety, its probably like visiting New Orleans, except with much better scenery.

Don't travle at night! The cows come out of nowhere(experience). Take plenty of extra gas. Don't go by your self.

Keep those simple rules in mind and you will probably be ok.

I'm going down ther in a month or so for NORRA 1k.

Cmon guys this is the same drama everytime mexico is safe as long as you do not belong to any drug cartel i go every weekend just because they dont have so many laws when you are playing in the dirt.

Im traying to get some people to make a trip (all day time ) for 1 whole week to cabo san lucas im talking to different hotels to see if they can give us a package deal.

Again mexico is safe as long as you dont act like a retard.

Enjoy baja!
