stock on front Dana 44 Rubicon is 1.75 Qts, right? Writeup here says put 2 qts in. That's about what I did, less what's left over. I will say this, that front diff is the easiest pumpkin I've ever filled! Maybe there's something to this whole solid front axle thing!

I just finished my EVAP relocation so I'll get back on topic and extend my breathers another day. Still waiting for my answer to my prior post though.

I just found and figured out the tubes and all because I noticed some leakage on the garage floor. Looked to be from the front TC tube up under the ESP near the brake fluid res. CleanED it all off - it was everywhere. Drove the JK today and darn if at every light I coould smell it burning.
I still can't understand why after 1,400 miles it starts bleeding now and did not the first month of ownership?

Back on topic, I just extended my breathers tonight:

MAN, that tranny breather was a bear to get free and pulled down so that I could attach and extend it.

Here are pics of the three in the engine bay. the rear I put behind the right tail light assembly.

Here are the other three:

the green cap breather is the tranny. White is transfer case.

Here is the front diff routed up to the brake booster area.

For those who extended rather than replaced, what did you use?

Any 5/16" rubber line will work. Fuel line is best as it's meant to handle fuel injection (higher PSI and all).

I used BRAKE tubing to make connections! Get a piece about 8" or so long, I cut it into 2" sections and use hose clamps to keep it tight. VERY water-proof and nice and easy. I prefer not to remove the factory fitting at the tranny/transfercase/diffs. Since that is so tight, I'd prefer to leave that alone and make my unions at the point where the OEM hose ended. It's much less likely to be submerged up that high anyway. So I'm literally building onto the stock design, not replacing it!

Adamisadam, in your two photos in the first one you said "the green cap breather is the tranny. White is diff." and second photo "Here is the front diff routed up to the brake booster area." Did you mean tranny and tcase in the first phot?

Anyway I was looking around today and I found the tcase breather behind the engine was looking all over for the tranny one and could not find it. Where is it located stock?

Heres a photo of the stock location for the T-case breather, it is right behind the center of the engine against the firewall.

Yes, I meant to say that the green is tranny and white next to it is T-case.

the tranny breather isn't nearly as high up as the t-case one, but in same area (but on passenger side). Stupid, that it's not as high!

I got at mine from below. It comes out of the tranny very close to the dipstick tube. It's zip-tied in place. I got my hand on it and yanked it downward. First I got at the end and grabbed the green end entirely off (not just the cap), then I was able to pull the rubber hose downward, out of the zip ties. I was trying not to cut it anywhere. It was not easy, but I did it.

Then, I fed extra long new hosing down from above, mated the new to existing underneath, and worked it all back up by pulling from the top.

viola!
