DIY: The Jeep Wave.
Here in northern VA close to DC most people will wave back. then there are some that don't. I think i get about 4 back for every 5 waves
. If i see you I'm waving. if i don't see you and you wave sorry :(. we all pretty much wave though. also at college we all park together
. I am a teenager 18. bought my 2011 Jeep wrangler in august with my own funds and I'm not one of those teens who doesn't understand the wave... lol I've known about the wave since i had my patriot. even with that thing covered in mud my wave count was 0/100000000000

So what if it isn't a real Jeep, maybe if these people feel like they are part of a community they will eventually realize that they should upgrade. I even acknowledge some Toyota people. All I want is to keep the trails open. If that means having a multibtand off-road community then so be it. We need all the help we can get to make sure the reason we buy the best off-road vehicles don't get shut down.
My granddad tought me how to drive and told me it was polite to wave to other drivers, especially neighbors. When I got my first jeep I was glad to find out about this tradition of the Jeep wave. I think alot of people just don't know its a "Jeep Thing" if they are new to jeeps. Now owning my 3rd and 4th Jeeps, I always wave to other wranglers, even half the time when I'm driving the commander as well. Occassionally to other model jeeps as well, although they always look confused, as if they know they weren't supposed to be included in the scret handshake.
I would compare it to another very old tradition, saying "Howdy" if you are in College Station, TX. If you ever pass through there you are bound to have at least one stranger say it to you with a smile on their face. They don't care if you are an aggie or not, its just the friendly thing to do. Its part of Texas A&M culture, but unless you have been there and experienced it, you probably don't know anything about it.

My old man told me once when I was little. I asked if he knew the guy he waved to in a jeep cj 7 he said no. Then I said "then why did u wave to him?" He said that's its a jeep thing... he said that jeepers were the only people crazy enough to buy these pieces of junk and still love them like we do... that has always stuck with me... now I own 2 wranglers and a cj7. For me its a family tradition
I love the jeep wave I think it is awesome that most fellow jeepers wave, although there are some bad eggs, and jerks who don't wave at us 4 door owners :/ But its still a great community thing
I will wave until my hand bleeds.
A guy in a cherokee waved at me today. I didn't realize he was waveing at me until it was too late to wave back, should I have?
Is there a Jeep caste system? He was definatly a guy who uses his 4X4 to 4X4, not just a daily driver. Can't say I've ever gotten a wave from a stock JK here in Phoenix.
