OR-Fab tire carrier install
Take your time. A word of advise. When installing the hinge plate, there's a little play with it. The holes in the hinge plate are a little larger than the bolts that go through them. You don't want to place the hinge plate too far to the passenger side or the passenger tail light will not fit - it will rub against the hinge plate. You also don't want to place it too far to the driver's side or the carrier bumpstop will not land on the tailgate. It's a little tricky, but once you get to that part, you'll know what I'm talking about.
There's a little play in where the holes need to be drilled, so don't be too concerned about being too exact. My angle drill was too large and I had to drill in from the outside of the body to the landing block. I was off by about 1/16" and just grinded the hole out a bit. You can't tell that the hole is slightly larger than the washer, especially with the RTV around it. The carrier is very well designed and extremely well built. You will be very happy with it.
Don't be afraid to post questions during the install. Good luck!

OR-FAB is including the plastic plugs in the kit now. At least they sent them to me when I ordered my hardware kit.
you'll need the Polaris RZR plate from rotopax. it hangs down off the tube of the carrier. believe it's a 1.5 inch curve..attaches with a hose clamp. i needed to cut maybe 1/4 inch off the bottom of mounting plate so that it would fit right in the lower lip that supports the jerry can. i ran a bead of silicone along the edge to prevent rust. i can email you some pix if you would like.
i'm currently running 2 black storage containers for my tools(stacked back to back) and one ugly orange container for my recovery gear..
there not 100% waterproof, but better then any other solution i came across..

Would you guys that have this tire carrier recommend the wrinkle or gloss finish? I'm just worried about rust and fading. I figure the gloss would definitely fade a lot quicker but I can always repaint it. Does one rust faster than the other from your experience?
I have the wrinkle finish because it matched my bumpers and sliders, so that was an easy decision to just keep it all the same. When any of them get banged up bad, I throw some spray can bedliner on it and it matches up perfect everytime.
As far as rusting, well I can't really say much on that because we don't get the rain out here in Arizona like Ausitn, TX where you are. It is a pretty damn could piece of metal fabrication and the quality seems like that is something I wouldn't worry too much about.

i just got mine(bought used) and it was missing a couple bolts(i was aware) so i talked to a very friendly person(Yates) and he is kind enough to send me all new hardware.... cant wait so i can mount this carrier. soooo excited

I have a 2010 black Sport, I think I'm gonna get the wrinkle which will probably match the stock fenders and bumpers pretty well I assume.
