Gearing
I know your supposed to get the tool to help it from spinning and use big socket and do it by hand. That didn't work for me. We did it at my buddys house who is a machinist. He has an old school super huge compressor. We cranked the shit out of the air pressure and it barely turned. Right before we got the play out, we would just tap the trigger until it just moved. In between bumps we kept checking it with inch pound torque wrench. They say if you go over and back it off, it messes it up. Then you would need a new crush washer. At least thats what I did. We didn't go over as long as you go slow. We got it in the perfect range. We also would tap both ends with a little blow before checking each time to make sure bearing was in place. To be honest, I wouldn't have tried it if he wouldn't have helped me.
Any one know for sure if the carrier shims are between the carrier and the bearings like on old 44s and 30s or if there between the housing and outer race, I know the Rubicon 44 there placed on the outside but am unsure about the non rubi 30/44. Either I order master rebuild kits cause I'll likley destroy the bearings removing them off the carrier or get what I need at half the cost with a pinion rebuild kit.
And now the joys of doing your own gear installs, NO warranty

Not sure what or when this happened. Just changing the oil after break in and i guess i really broke it in. I was gonna take it on its first wheeling trip tomorrow but i guess ill take my XJ. Not to sure how much success ill have with warranty.
