I did the grill mod twice in the past week..................The tape keeps seperating from the zip tie blocks. It sticks to the grill reallly good. Anybody have any suggestions? I thought possibly epoxy the blocks in place!!!

Yep, scrape off the sticky from the grill. Then epoxy or gorilla glue the squares straight to the grill.

I first gorilla glued my sticky pads to the grill, took forever to scrape that stuff off to glue the squares down.

Been several months now, gorlla glue's held up fine.

Taking off the 3m tape sucks! I soaked mine in goo gone for a day or two and they floated right off! Everything went fine til I ran out of 5 minute epoxy! Jb weld to the rescue! Anyone know if this has any effect on a trans cooler or on the top mounted winch as far as air restriction or anything?

I used the same technique, but you really only have to let it sit in the goo gone for about 5-10 mins after taking off the adhesive backing. Then it scrapes right off with a razor with almost no effort.

Default Did the same mod but...

The paint I painted the aluminum mesh with cracked off. So I think I will redo it with non-painted mesh this time.

Also, note that I have hit a bird pretty hard and it held up. It's a little loose now but it's still there. haha.

Btw, the bird didn't make it. In case you didn't know.

Default Did Mine Today

Got around to getting mine done today. Have had the Jeep for just a few weeks, so this was the first mod. Really easy to do, cheap, and looks great. Thanks for all the informative posts. The posts really made it easy. All in all, this mod cost me just under $20.00 - by just a few cents. Like many, I used the roll of gutter guard found at your local hardware store. I soaked the zip tie brackets in Goo Gone overnight. The sticky pads peeled right off in the morning. I then mounted the brackets with Gorilla Glue. To remove the posts that hold the grill in place, I used the thing with which you pry cans of paint open. It took less than a minute to remove all six. Definitely recommend this mod.
