The first time I slid it on very carefully and then after it was centered I nailed a 2x4 on the three sides on the 2x part facing down. Now I just stand in the middle of the table and push up on the top and move it forward and the 2x4s guide it on perfectly and it eventually stops at the backstop. I even marked holes and drilled for the studs on the top to fall into Works great

I just made mine....put side rails and a backstop....also added 3" locking casters so I can move it in the garage if need be....now just need some nice weather here in jersey to actually use it...

I built one of these too...Thanks a million to the O.P., I can now take my top off without having to harass one of my friends for help.
Just a side note; if you have a Wild Boar hardtop, it will fit fine on the paltform, but it will fall forward if you do not strap the back portion down. Because we dont have the option of removing the front panel, the Wild Boar top tips forward.

I whipped one together last night using 2x4s and a 2x6 for the top even added some scrap 2x4 for a lip after the top decoded to widen a bit while sitting on the, um, "rack".
got it on casters too so I can move it in the garage. need to change to all moving casters as its interesting trying to manuever this thing with two fixed casters!

the thing is super easy to use! cost about $25 in supplies (wood, casters, screws) about an hour to put together and maybe 20-30 min to take the top off.
