Hard Top removal - ALONE!
Has anyone considered using an engine hoist with an X frame on top of the arm to lift the top off from inside? Would make it a super easy job and moveable.
Something like this bodged up drawing:

Just remembered about the top bar across the back! Ah well would have been good, back to the drawing board.
Here's another version, would have to insert just inside rear of JK, lift past height of rear bar then slide forwardand again then lift top off.

All unproven ideas so do not build without testing first

I was hoping you could send me plans for the table. I have a 2012 COD that would look much better without the top. Thanks in advance. AL momd64506@yahoo.com
I've been using some tall patio furniture with the chair backs towards the inside. Sitting with tailgate open and finding the balance point was the hardest ( I now have small sharpie dots where palms go) Lift and maneuver around the spare tire and set right down on the arm rests of the chairs.... Works pretty good for a day by day removal. Weather in Idaho can be sketchy. I might have to build this so my company doesn't have to stand when I'm grillin' out!
I was thinking about building one of these but the only issue is I kinda need the stand to disappear when it's not in use. I can't see any issue with making one where the "arms" fold using heavy duty door hinges and some type of ladder spreader to secure them when they are open. I'm probably gonna draw up some plans in autocad when I get some free time.
