Just made mine today. Very easy to take the top off by myself. Very sturdy and secure. Thank you.

Very nice. It can even double as a doghouse.

That's a slick idea. I like it! I personally don't think it's overbuilt. There's no such thing as overkill. That thing'll last and you won't have to worry about tippage. Great idea!

Nah, it's not over built. I feel a lot better knowing that expensive top is safe. The only thing I did different was a back stop and guide rails so I can't F up and slide it off. It really is so easy to take off and put on and stores safe and sound. Thanks again to the op.

This is so much simpler than my sliding winch - table set up. I may have to make one of these just to try it out.

Built mine. Need to adjust I a bit. The side platform boards I put on flush, need to move them forward a bit so they hit the Jeep before the 4X4 hits the bumper. The gap is quit large from the top to the platform.

I did the same thing (moving the platform boards). There is no gap on mine now and gives me peace of mind. I plan on putting some carpet on the top portion soon. This just feels so much better than the hoist I was using.

That's good to hear. I haven't even taken the top off yet, had built for two weeks, either I have been out of town on the weekends, or it has been raining. Would do it this weekend, but out of town again.

Do you guys secure the top down after you get it on the platform? Don't want it to come crashing down, it has been fairly windy here lately.
