why not just lock the doors with the door lock switch and close the door rather than use the fob? that sets the alarm just the same (i just tried it)

I recently did a fender trim and relocated my side marker lights. I got a couple 2"x1" LED lights and mounted them on top of the fender flares. Now - mine blink but do not light up when the parking lights are on. They were fully functional as both side marker and blinker before I changed out the original bulb to LED's. The LED's came with 2 wires - white & yellow. I connected white to white & yellow to black. Can anyone help?

Default Looking for some suggestions…

Okay, did this over the weekend and the passenger side worked perfectly but I screwed up the driver side. I ran the black wire to the middle white wire and obviously didn’t work right when I tested it, so double checked my wiring and fixed it. Now the flashers work perfectly but when I turn the headlights on the side marker does not come on and the light under the headlight does not come on and now the rear light does not come on. Turn the flashers on and flashers all work, hazards work also. Brake light works in the back also. I thought I blew a fuse, so when I couldn’t decipher the fuse box abbreviations, I tested all the fuses with a multi-meter and they were all fine. Maybe I blew the bulb? Nope, switched out bulbs, no luck. Tested the wires with the multi-meter, first on the passenger side b/c it was working right. Both white lines had power, 12v if I remember correctly. Tested the driver’s side and I’m getting no power to the middle wire, which I assume is the headlight power. But when I turned on the blinks, the middle wire is getting power as the light flashes. Looking for any suggestions on how to fix this? What did I screw up that would kill the power to the rear light, the side light and front light, but not affect the main head light?

This sounds like a broken wire.

- How did you tap into the wires? With a T-connector or did you cut them?

- Does your multi-meter have a continuity tester? (They almost all have that test)

- When you say flash, does the side-marker AND front marker flash at the same time?

I figured it out, it was a blown fuse, I pulled them all out and found which one was bad. I don't know why I didn't catch it with the multi-meter, either going too fast or because it was 110 degrees outside that day. Thanks dukedar for the quick response.

M17 - 15 amp blue fuse is for the driver side park/tail lights and M18 - 15 amp blue fuse is the passenger side, these are in the middle of the fuse box between two relays.

Replaced the fuse and everything works great. Great mod, great website.

Thumbs up

This mod is a must .
It is next on the list

JK Wrangler Power Locks Tweaks
There seem to be many combinations of the power lock operation in the new JK. Some of these procedures are under debate and some you may need to try a few times to get it right. Use at your own risk.
Set the locks to auto-lock at 15 mph and auto unlock all when either front door is opened.
Get in the Jeep, insert the key. Cycle the key from insertion position to "on" position 5 times, upon completing the 5th cycle make sure the key ends in the "on" position, press the unlock switch up twice.
Set the locks to auto-lock at 15 mph with NO auto unlock all when either front door is opened.
Get in the Jeep, insert the key. Cycle the key from insertion position to "on" position 5 times, upon completing the 5th cycle make sure the key ends in the "on" position, press the unlock switch up once.

Stop the "HONK" when you lock the doors using the fob.
Press and hold the Lock button on the fob for at least 5 seconds, while still holding the lock button press the Panic button and release both. Test operation.
Unlock all the doors with one press of the unlock on the fob.
Press and hold the Lock button on the fob for at least 5 seconds but no more than 10. While still holding the Lock button press and hold the Unlock button. Release both and test.
Turn off the lights flash when locking
Press the unlock button on the fob for 4 to 10 seconds. While still holding the unlock button press and hold the lock button. Release both and test.
Notes on the security system
-Locking the Jeep with the fob always activates the security system.
-Unlocking the door with the key in the lock tumbler and opening the door will set off the alarm. It is disarmed by inserting the key into the ignition.
-To lock the Jeep without activating the alarm, lock all the doors within the Jeep, exit the Jeep, this will unlock the exit door. Lock the door using the lock tumbler.

heres your seat belt solution! if i remember correctly these instructions are in the owners manual. But then again who reads that thing anyways?

The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be enabled
or disabled by your authorized dealer or by
following these steps:

NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first 60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON or START position. The manufacturer does not recommend deactivating the Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert).

1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and buckle the driver or front passenger seat belt.

2. Turn the ignition key to the ACCESSORY/RUN position (engine does not need to be running), and wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.

3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver or front passenger seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.

4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated by repeating this procedure.

NOTE: Although the Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning Light will continue to illuminate while the driver’s seat belt remains unfastened.
