This has got to be the easiest mod in the world! Not to mention one of the smartest things you can do that for some reason Jeep was too lazy to do for you... maybe they just wanted to give us a mod that anyone could do??? Took about 10 min in all because I taped everything up extra well. Used a posi-tap from the local store just for the heck of it.

Yeah, unfortunately I was out of shrink tape. When I get around to buying another roll that's what I'm going to use on the cut ends just to prevent any weird corrosion running up the conductor behind the insulation, but mostly because I'm anal about things like that.

Wanted to share...

Make sure you're connecting the MARKER side of the black wire to the outside white striped turn signal wire... I pulled a brain fart and cut the black close to the marker instead of close to the engine compartment. I was essentially grounding out the connection... No damage though. I figured it out though and now it works beautifully!

Remember... Cut black marker wire CLOSER to engine than marker!!!

ok, did this mod earlier this evening. followed all the directions. my mod looks exactly like the pics, but my side marker lights don't do anything (come on as running lights or blink as turn signals). i cut the black wire from the side marker light and spliced it into the blinker wire from the front running light. taped off the other end of the black wire. i even replaced the side marker bulbs (good thing cuz they were blown). using a voltage tester i went to each side of the connector at the side marker, and it lights up when the running lights are on and blinks when the turn signal is on. all my other lights work fine and everything about the jeep is as it was before the mod. does anyone have any idea why this would not be working?

if you get voltage with the meter it sounds to me like everything worked appropriately. So, it's either the new bulbs, the bulbs aren't seated in the fixture correctly, or the fixture or connections to it are bad.

do the bulbs have to go in a certain direction? like a positive and negative side? i just popped the new ones in. as i mentioned earlier both the bulbs i took out were blown. could both fixtures really be bad?

It's unlikely that the hardware on both sides has failed but it is possible. I would lean toward the bulbs. I honestly don't know the specifics on the installation of the bulbs as I have never removed mine.
