I did this to my '11 the first week I had it. Had no problems at all and was completely done with the mod in 20 minutes tops. Still works great 4.5 months later.

when was your '11 built?

I wonder if something changed at some point during the year? seems really unlikely but it's weird that some '11s have reported it works while others have had issues

These connectors can be, especially if the gig is saddling insulation only. Make sure the blade of the gig/U/splice is connecting with the bare wire.

I am not an electricialn, the extent of my wiring knowledge is tapping into existing wires for landscape lighting. I have a couple of noob questions.

What gauge are the wires?

Has anyone used the posi-tap connectors? They look like they may provide a clean setup, but I do not think they are weatherproof, so I would need to tape/seal things up.

I have an '11 rubicon unlimited, it looks like some folks have run into issues, but I could not tell if the issues related to splicing the wrong wires. Any thoughts?

If I do not buy the posi-tap connectors, does anyone have other recommendations?

Thanks.

Tried this on mine (2011 Rubi) this weekend, and did not work.
Can someone that got it working on a 2011 please write exactly how they did it?
I have seen it asked here but have yet to see a definite answer, was something changed in the new ones?
Seems lots of us with the '11's can't get this to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks. I'll keep looking.

Worked just fine on my 2011. Used a blade connector from Radio Shack made for attaching a wire end to a continuous wire. Used a pair of pliers to squeeze the blade to ensure it cut through the wire insulation.

When was your 2011 built. My was built in March, 2011 and I could not get this to work.

Followed directions carefully, and checked and double checked all the connections. Would not work.
