Yes this is the way to do it. No removal of springs just a bungee. Then if you need it up, just pull it up.

Did you fold the seats forward?

Has anyone done the post removal of a 2012 JKUR? Will that unzip cover in red wire work for mine?

Respond quickly!!!! I'm a bored firefighter with excess coffee and no girlfriend supervision, so there will be cutting tools out before I go wheeling in am...

I have a 2013 JKU and used this forum to remove mine, everything was pretty much the same. Took maybe 30 min. Start to finish. Like the forum points out, remember to remove the headrest and expose the posts before you start so you're not fumbling with it like I was when I had everything apart. Also when I was unbolting the headrest post I just pulled the foam up enough to get my socket wrench on there so I didn't have to pull the seat covers to far up. Made reassembly simple and everything meshed back up without having to readjust anything. Best mod I've done so far minus my Texas jk decals lol.

Thanks, the zippers for my covers are being a pain in the arse, but I dont know if they are diff bc of the leather or what. I'll give it a shot. Got the headrest off already. Did you unbolt your rear seats to get to the zippers?

No I actually just folded them forward some to give me access. I did use needle nose pliers to get to the zippers initially as they tuck in pretty well. I also used the pliers to zip them back up all the way. I would imagine this project being a little trickier as the leather won't stretch as much as the fabric. I think it's well worth the effort however if like me you have no purpose for the rear headrest. Plus my dogs like to have half of their bodies over the rear seat when I drive which is easier without the headrests.

Default '14 JKS Headrest Questions

Reviving an old thread, can anyone tell me how to remove the rear seat headrests on a 2014 Wrangler JK Sport? My son is still young enough that his head doesn't clear the seatback, so I'd appreciate the extra rearward visibility until he gets tall enough to warrant the headrests again.

Also, can anyone confirm that the '14 front headrests can be replaced with a Cherokee set that're more upright instead of angled forward?

Rob O.

I just popped off the springs that make them pop up automatically. My headrests lay flat out of sight unless I manually pull them back up.
