Another member had done it. He stated that the top brackets need to be removed but the bottom brackets hold it in place. I was going to attempt it, but will just be too time consuming for me.

Not familiar with that grill guard. I know it took many weekends of putting things on, taking things off and modifying every time till i got to this point

Love this idea. Finally got all the parts and pieces to do it with and looking forward to the challenge this weekend. Bought a solenoid/relay to install in the wiring so I can disconnect power from in the cab and hopefully deter anyone from messing with it.

I purchased the Smittybilt winch plate for a TJ for my starting point. I then made a few cuts and then welded on an extension for the fairlead:

The extention moves the fairlead out exactly 3.5" which touches the outer layer of the bumper plastic. I removed the inner plastic layer and the metal part of the bumper:

Here is the Jeep with all the cuts treated with rust primer:

I'm currently in the process of painting the winch plate and will post more pics when it is done.

Edit: I finally finished!

Hey, loved your work. Would you mind giving me the measurements if it's possible or if you want to? I just recently joined because of your post and I want to do the same thing. I like to keep it stock looking but with a little awesomeness. :P

This is the best write up I've seen. I'd also like to get the measurements if possible.

It is the rugged ridge lower dash panel. Daystar makes one as well and it's much more popular but I liked the look of the rugged ridge better.

Gave it a go on my '12 this weekend but didn't get it finished, the brake vacuum canister gave me some grief that i wasn't expecting. it's tucked away for now but not very well, and i wont be buying a relo kit since it interferes with the sPod if i go with one. I've been looking at my winch (superwinch lp8500) and have been contemplating rotating the mounts on it so the disengage lever will poke trough the winch plate and be accessible. haven't cut through the plastic bumper yet but it seems like it will all line up nicely, and if i **** it up then i'll just fab up some sort of flashing, will post some pictures when it's done.
