2012 jk
I got my 2012 Rubicon automatic back in september and have 9500 miles. I'm running a 2.5 teraflex lift and 295/70/17 tires. i have 4.10 gears and i think it drives great, the engine felt livelier after 5000 miles. i also have the afe ypipe, exhaust, and intake. love it so far. as for the stock evap skid it's very flimsy, i'd still recommend an aftermarket one.

2012 rubicon: auto comes with 3.73 gears and 4.10 optional. thats not to say that the dealers havent ordered them that way. Manual comes with 4.10. With that said due to the 5 speed changes the new trans has a lower and higher drive than the previous 4 speed autos. The manuals give you the greatest range low and high.
If you get the manual you dont have to worry about flashing new shift points. And it cost less. I had a 03 rubicon....it was fun but almost to easy on the trails. thats why when I made the jump to 2012 rubicon I went with manual. I am a bit pissed my 03 came with skid plates.... I have to drop 900 bucks for underwear.

nothing is included with the lift kit but yes you must have something to move the exhaust back, i used the afe y pipe and while i was at it did the whole exhaust, but you could also use the teraflex exhaust spacer kit.
I have been following the auto/manual debate for a while and I'm going tomorrow to order my Rubicon. I am only curious about one thing and that is the anti-stall in 4lo. I am planning on doing some off roading with mine and it is not going to be my DD. I want the manual for the fun factor but I'm hoping that the anti-stall will give me the ability to have some fun on not so extreme rocks. I hope with this thinking is that I can have the on road fun factor of the manual and as long as I don't get real extreme off road I won't wish I went with the auto. What I would like to know is how extreme does it have to be before the auto really has an advantage? If I put it in 1st gear and just let it crawl doesn't the anti-stall make a difference?
Thanks guys

About the anti stall. I believe that you will be able to set the idle up with a programmer. That way you can fine tune it to the weight of the vehicle. (top on or off) The hill assist is a cool feature. But it has actually caused me to stall it. I for get its there sometimes. It is a good tool I just don't have the habit to look for it. On mild hills you can't tell if it's active or not. It is 3 degree switch. But can you tell between 2.8 and 3.2. Degrees. I know it can be turned off. But I had a f350 pull way to close to my hind end on a steep hill. Worked great then. It can really shine when one tire is already half way up a steep wet rock.
