My 33s touch the top of my ARB bumper. If the 35" would sit on the bumper to take some of the load, would using one of those cheap spare relocator brackets be a bad idea on an oem tailgate?

I would first check with ARB to see if they have something to help you out.

I've had the 285/75R17s before and I actually loved the size. They actually ran taller than other people's 35X12.5R17s, as most "35"s run less than 34. The only thing is that no company makes a 285/75R17 in anything other than E load range, so they tend to be heavy and stiff.

Here is a picture of what my Jeep used to look like when I was running them....

What tire carrier is that!? Looks awesome!

Those look great. What lift do you have? I want bigger than my 33s when that time comes but doubt I will get into 35s but want as close as I can since I only have 2" lift but don't want to trim the fenders.

I think pick out tires for our Jeeps is almost as much fun as playing off road. I spent the first 8 weeks or so of ownership picking out mine. Very happy with my choice. Lots of variables. Lots of cash so its hard to get a "do over" if you're not happy.

Very well stated!

And I'd add once you have them, its days later you are planning the next set
