285/75R17 or 315/70R17 ??
Just want to confirm that you are talking about 285/75R17 and not the ever popular 285/70R17, right?
I've had the 285/75R17s before and I actually loved the size. They actually ran taller than other people's 35X12.5R17s, as most "35"s run less than 34. The only thing is that no company makes a 285/75R17 in anything other than E load range, so they tend to be heavy and stiff.
Here is a picture of what my Jeep used to look like when I was running them....

Those look great. What lift do you have? I want bigger than my 33s when that time comes but doubt I will get into 35s but want as close as I can since I only have 2" lift but don't want to trim the fenders.
I think pick out tires for our Jeeps is almost as much fun as playing off road. I spent the first 8 weeks or so of ownership picking out mine. Very happy with my choice. Lots of variables. Lots of cash so its hard to get a "do over" if you're not happy.
And I'd add once you have them, its days later you are planning the next set
