For the street, 33's are fine...for mud, the fatter and longer footprint of the 35's will make you much more capable, provide more flotation, less bogging down, and more over all traction, and help keep the diffs/axles from acting as anchors, etc.

In mud, 35's make a difference vs 33's.

My wife won't let me get 35's cause of the lack of power with just 33's... i mean seriously you lose overdrive @70 mph with just 33's i can't imagine 35's... i never drive it over 40 so i don't care but she is the one who has to drive it more so i won't upgrade till i can regear. the bottom end is fine though.. it has a little pep till about 50 or so then it is gutless

EDIT: the only reason i want 35's is for that extra inch of differential clearance. it has nothing to do with mud footprint etc for me the 33" MTZ's are great...

I have a 2.5" Skyjacker lift, and 1" BL. I couldnt decide between 33s and 35s. I have the six speed, with 3.73 gearing. I went with 35's becuase it was buy 3 get one free on any tire over 250$. Im so glad i did, power loss is not as bad as i thought it would be. gas mileage is not great 13/17. clearance is noticibly better!
Hope this helps

Went down the same road, ordered the 35's and I am VERY glad I did. I would not have been happy with the 33's.

Bigger IS Better! With my last 4 x4, I started with 31", traded to 32", got bigger lift, went to 35", got a body lift and went to 36". My Jeep is getting a SkyJacker 6" long arm lift next week and I am getting 37" Super Swamper Iroc's - just like the ones on the Wounded Warrior Jeep! I live in Mississippi and all I am in is Mud. I am putting 5.13 gears in my new jeep at the same time, but when you are in 4 low, the power loss wasn't a problem on my other vehicle. I did eventually go to 4.56 gears on it however. Trust me, if you go with the 33", it is just a matter of time...

Exactly what FGuedon said...that's the point I was trying to make... only a matter of time! It IS a visious circle...
