Seriously? This question is asked every day on this board. Use the search button. Also its hard to answer bland questions.

I thought about this for a long time and read argument over argument about the topic, and in the end went with 33's (auto 3.73's) since most of my driving is highway and I only go offroad once in a while. If I ever plan to move up I would most likely regear when I get the new tires. Lots of people have done it and say it's fine. In the end the choice is up to you.

Running 35's on our rubicon (4.10s) and we did NOT regear. Will I regear eventually??? eh, probably, but it's really low on the priority list. I can spend that kind of cash on other things that will make my rig more trail capable. I know regearing gives you a better crawl ration and does help on the trail but I feel like mostly the reason for regearing is onroad performance.

Your gas mileage will improve dramatically if you regear your automatic 4 door. At $2.60 a gallon, you would save the cost of the regear in less than 30k miles. If gas goes back to $4 a gallon, you would save the cost of the regear in less than 20k miles. Purely from a financial standpoint, the payoff is probably less than 2 years.
Now this is the answer we need to add to the FAQ.
(and amazingly, even with all the daily posts on the subject, that is something I never even considered)

Is this a fact? I know 2 people who have regeared their 35" auto to 5.13 and have reported lower gas mileage.

There are lots of scenarios here. If you were having issues with kickdowns with you old gear set, you will see an improvement. If you weren't, you probably won't.
