I have an automatic and it made a big difference. I’m glad I did.

One revolution takes up the same amount of rubber, regardless of how much height you lose between putting the tire on and putting it to weight. Air it up to 45lbs, air it down to 10, and one revolution is the same, but the sidewall height is different. I wouldn't change the chart.
Inflation rates and wheel width definitely make a difference in the circumference of a tire. Think of the tire as a balloon, when you push or pull on it changes the shape elsewhere. This is why we do things such as the chalk test to determine proper inflation rates, and ones that keep even wear on the tire from left to right. Over inflate a tire and it bulges in the center, creating greater circumference.

Tires also have a degree of elasticity so the flat contact patch does change the rolling circumference. It doesn't change the rubber lugs, but the air space between them. Then of course you still have the elasticity of the tire belts and rubber. tires can also be under inflated to a point where they start to form a crown in the contact patch. This is where between the leading and trailing edge of the contact patch there is so little tire pressure that it begins to bow in the center of the contact patch. This is often called tire wadding and creates some really funky wear on MTs. Just take an unmounted tire push your hand on the tread, compressing it a bit and see how it changes.

Different tires are certainly going to respond differently and there isn't any easy way to guess where one tire is vs another one. There are still some guidelines to make some estimates, and I'll throw those in as notes on the chart.

35's on my Rubicon with stock gears, it runs fine on city driving and with overdrive off on auto trans does ok on highway.

Well, yeah, but the tire isn't exactly like a balloon. If you overinflate it, it will get bigger. But it doesn't get much smaller underinflated. Balloons don't have much of an inherent shape, but the tire starts out a certain size. The amount of sidewall flex will make it wear funny, but doesn't change the distance around the circle. If you blow it way up, it makes it bigger. I can't imagine any of these scenarios making a huge amount of difference in the circumference though.

In round numbers, 1" of additional wheel width will make a .4" difference in Tire diameter. Same diameter, same make tires , same width wheels on my Dodge Ram and my JK with nearly double the tire pressure on the Ram are a half inch taller. Both tires have an even contact patch from left to right, based on the weight of the vehicle.

My experience and tons of jerking with this comes from use of drag radials on my '79 Malibu. Definitely makes a lot more difference in that arena and accelerating or not accelerating at the line on the fast end of the track. Of course traction makes a bigger difference, but you don't want to cross the line without motor left.

Yeah. We need some deep water crossing pics. Where is your Show & Tell or Trails & Tails thread?

Just because you asked....

And yes I know this was NOT SMART... and NOT THE way you are supposed to cross though shit

but Its the way I had fun (except when things go bang) so please dont fire off with me not knowing what I am doing or driving like an ass and doing it wrong... we all know that you should follow the book every crossing and drive under 5mph and not blast through at 40 and get mud over the roof....

Also I have seen people do much much worse and get away with it... but that doesnt excuse my style of wheeling and so on...
Look at the FL dudes... they are INSANE!!

lastly I do not condone this behavior unless like me you are ready to eat the cost of fucking things up royaly (which I knew could happen but got too excited and was having too much fun to stop...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCjuP2ypY2I

There are a bunch of other videos prior to this and there was 2 more puddles like this after but this was the biggest and what got the box filled with soup... it wasnt untill I went on a very very large down grade that the water slopped an angel that was cutting off air from the slotted intake side and left the intake no choice but to drink up the water in the box...
I know why it happened and what I did wrong so no need to point it out

It's all good joey, no flame from me. Not sure a snorkel would have helped you in that type situation, lol, but at least you're not afraid to discuss it.
