Buy the house with all the money forget the jeep in this situation, your kids need a home and the more you have towards the house the safer you will be from forclosure.

okay, so after I get the house and set up the kids college funds, is it better to just go with the new axle assemblies? And I do not take caring for my children lightly. They have all that they need and most of what they want. Good advice on the college funds for the kids, I'll definitely be looking into that.

The search for the house is only on hold because I'm trying to figure out where what coast we are going to end up on.

What is the price difference between building up the stock ones and new assemblies?

Ok now I feel like a dingus. I definitlty see your point now. You didn't start a thread called 40K build to get life advice. I was just stating what I would do with $40,000. So to answer the original question then lets see. For me a Jeep is nothing if not reliable. I think the only way to do this is either keep it close to stock or anything you do mod make sure you do everything else to ensure it all works together. For me I couldn't see me spending that big money on a HEMI as I personally don't drive to really need one I am sure a hemi would be great but wow big money and you sure are changing an awful lot. So if I wheeled a lot the dynatrack front axle would be pretty high on the list. Love the idea of a purpose built with the JK in mind bolt in beefy axle. Of course with all the fixins too; appropriate gearing, some cromo axles, some kind of selectable locker more then likely an ARB. On the other hand if I did not wheel the snot out of my Jeep or didn't plan on 35's or bigger I don't think I would do this either. So what I am getting at is it is really dependant on what kind of Jeep you want. So decide if this is to make a real bad ass wheeler or something that makes every head turn not just the few guys that can spot a dynatrack when your driving by. Hope I or anyone else didn't offend you too much with the life lessons and hopefully this may get this thread back on track. Why don't you tell us what you want your Jeep to do and everyone can help you spend some $$$.

Default No Brainer

If 40's are absolutely what you are getting for tires I think it's a no brainer. You pretty much have to do dynatracks or equivalent. That is a lot of tire. People are bending, bracking and destroying axles with 35's (I am not saying all but yes it happens). With getting gussets, sleeves, gears, cromoly shafts, a locker, etc. in the stocker and probably still being under prepared for 40's I would go dynatrack. I guess if this is a pavement princess thoe you may get a way with the beefed up stocker. But if it was me and wanted 40's and was prepared to drop 40K then the dynatrack would be the only way to go.

I dont have my kids monday night through thursday night so I hit the trails almost every night. I can get by on most trails but there are some very technical trials I found that typically buggies would run. I don't know if I can get my JKU to the point where I can tackle those trails but I want an ultra capable wheeling Jeep. I couldn't give a crap what it looks like which is why i took the rubicon decals off mine and ran it through the brush as soon as I got it. I only wanted it to hurt once
My kids love the jeep as much as I do. When they wake me up on Saturdays, the first thing they say is "can we go jeepin' dad?" They begged me to put the top down (it was 62 degrees) and even though I thought it was too cold, they grabbed their "jeep blankies" and bundled up and hooted and hollered all the way from Springfield to Brattleboro (45 minute drive). Its what we love to do so long story short, some road, much off road, some very technical off road. I have other vehicles to drive though you wouldn't know it. I can't bring myself to drive anything else

is this a Jeep forum or a cheating ex wife trying to take my kids and keep my house and dog forum??

it's his money, his life, let it be. Many of us do not come on here to read about life lessons in ex wifes, children, or money. While that is great to know that complete strangers give a crap about a fellow Jeeper and offer advice and that;s what makes Jeepers stand out from other people, but that is not what this is for. He has some money and wants to build a Jeep, why don't we stick with that

like others said, its not our business to tell him what to do or not to do, but i cant help but to offer my $.02

idk how recent this ordeal was, but i think you should hold off on this build and think it over more. because this seems like an impulse decision, almost like a "fuck it, i have 40K and im going to spend it on whatever i want" kind of thing. nothing wrong with that of course, but im only saying this because maybe what you're going through is affecting your decision

Parts & labour.

6.1 Hemi -$25k
D60 axles-$12k
Long arm coilover lift-$6k
5-40" tires & bead lock wheels-$4k

Plus what ever else you don't have already, it'll be on the sunny side of $50k. When its done. I'd say go for it. People spend that much on an SUV anyday. But you will have the coolest ride around.
personal opinion, I'd drop the Hemi and throw in the RIPP which wil still give great performance and hp/torque gains. that should save about $20,000, then put some of that into the xtra items like

bumpers, tire carrier for that 40", sliders, on board air, offroad lights, Mastercraft seats front and rear with 5 point harness, weld in cage to the floor. Atlas t-case

that's what I"m talking about! may take me a few years to get there but that's where I want to go with this.
