17in slabs? Just looking through your post, do you have the ultimate dana 60's the OP is referring to?

What do you guys think about these in 17's with 3.5" BS? Going to run 15.50's I think. What wheel width do you think?

Shooting you a PM.

Many of the tie rods on the market were not designed to be used with hydro assist. The design of the Synergy is an interesting one. It is a thinner wall heat treated chromoly. It can take a hit and flex and go back to straight. So, with no hydro, it is a really nice tie rod. When you add a ram and get into the rocks or anything that requires the hydro to do a lot of work, and it will flex. Add some large tires to the mix and it just becomes undesirable when wheeling.

I know a lot of the guys on JKO were having trouble finding a place to mount the ram. Some were limiting the steering stops and some found a way to sneak it in with a custom bracket and mount the body near the diff cover and run toward the passenger side. It's a tall diff cover to clear.

Also, regarding the tire size comment, it takes the same amount of clearance to run a 38x15.5 as it does to run a 40x13.5. There are no advantages to running a 38".

Expect to run some adapters with a 15.5" wide tire with a 3.5" bs wheel

Thanks for all of your help. I went with trailready HD17's and Nitto 40x13.50's. Hopefully it'll be good.

Anything else I need to be aware of? Wondering how many have run a similar setup. Pic for what she looks like today.
I went with 70" Solid Axles 60s and I run a 17x9 wheel with 4.5 inches and I have enough space that I could easily go to a 42" tire, possibly larger. 4.5-4.75 of backspace is pretty typical for wheels a jeeper would buy I believe.

We sell a lot of Trail Ready's and UD60s. I'd say most people are running 40s with them and are going with 4" BS wheels. The more up-travel you have, the more back space you will want. Also, it helps a lot if you are trying to sneak some coilovers in there.

If you are still looking for axles, we also have the UD60s with ARB lockers. And, we'll beat any package deal out there

Thanks. I already ordered the axles from Northridge and the wheels from them as well. Based on all of my research and all of your feedback I went with 3.5" of backspace as I may go to a different tire down the road. Larry at TrailReady is one one the most fair individuals I've worked with in his industry. Highly recommended!! I'll post some pics on the progress. Should be done late next week.

I think you'll be very happy with your choice! What tire carrier do you have now?

Smittybilt XRC. It works fine for my 37's but not sure about the weight of the beadlocks and the 40's. We'll see...
