I love you guys for opening my eyes to this idea... but hate you for spending all my money at the same time.

I'm heading to the Go Topples event in Monson MA this weekend. Thinking of bringing up the trailer. Anyone else here in New England going?

Have you thought about the hitch that swivels, so the trailer can lean any which way independently of the truck?

If I get this thing, I'll likely keep the pintle. I won't really be expedition riding it - even so its a super strong hitch that does allow for movement. My only minor concern is the clanking they tend to do (not that it hurts anything, just a annoyance). Was reading over on Steel warrior? i think is the site, anyway, reading if the hook is the right size it doesn't really bang a lot. Others suggested a piece of radiator hose over the hook deadens it up too. I'll keep ya'll posted if I get this trailer. Been reading on converting it to 12v etc, looks pretty straight forward. Someone was saying the bulbs will work, just be dim if I dont' replace the bulbs? I just want to be legal bringing it home the 3 hr drive, ya know. My other concern is the height - I'm stock right now so dragging it home its going to definately lean into the jeep.

Yes, purchased and installed. Need to get welded on the safety chain bracket and the bracket for the swing away jack. Click image for larger version

I kept the pintle hitch for more flexibility. I have no clanking at all. It depends on what hitch you buy. The multi purpose hitch, with the ball, has clanking issue. I bought hitch that is pintle only. As for lights, conversion is easy but I just stripped entire system and harness and added new lights. Saved on weight and looks good. I compared the old army lights and new ones and liked the look of new better. By adding matching wheels to trailer you solve the height issue. I have 35s on jeep and trailer and as result the trailer is more level.

The light would be dim...
This is what I did, sorry for the reader's digest version, I'm sending this from my phone. Hope it helps or at least point you in the right direction.

For the 4 wire setup I did the following:
Purchased 2x 1156 & 2x 97 bulbs was less than $10 for all.

22-461 = left stop/signal. 22-460 = right stop/signal. 21 running/tail light. Screw the ground to the frame.

I plan on replacing my lights at some point, what did you go with? Im going to go with LEDs for bit not sure if I what the Ovals or ones similar to yours with reverse lights. May go with oval and add a separate reverse/spot light.
