Aussie Locker installed
I love mine! no issues, just noisy around tight turns, like parking and stuff. but I love it! It makes a world of difference on the trail too. As soon as they get one for the 44, I'm gonna order, no questions asked! for the price and ease of install, I don't think you can beat it. Best mod for the buck for me.
nope, just take the spider gears and put in the Aussie. no modifications. just be MAD CAREFUL with the little springs! one shot across the garage at 2 am and i spent like an hour hunting it down!
hi from italy!!!
i called Aussie to buy a locker XD-13027 for my jeep JK 07 dana 30 front axle and they responded me:
"Please check with your Jeep dealer using the VIN number and find out if your Dana 30 is a "Next Generation Dana 30" differential. Jeep started using these in 2007 vehicles and if you have this differential there are no lockers currently available. We are looking at developing one, but it is in the early stages of engineering review."

It means that the new D30's are built a bit sturdier, and therefore have slightly different dimensions....but, from what the people here who ALREADY installed Aussie Lockers into their JK D30's...they work...the thrust washers might need to be altered to accomodate the different fit, but, its still a 27 spline D30, and otherwise similar enough to work.
The Rubicon's have 30 spline front D44's, and 32 spline rear, D44's....a different situation...as the TJ's had 30 spline D44's in back, etc.
ALL the JK's should have the "Next Generation" D30's.
Ok, so I see this thread was resurrected. I have a bit of a technical question and I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
I am regearing to 5.13s in my D30 which currently has 3.21 gears. I understand I will need a new carrier for all gears 3.73 and up. I went to my local shop (very reputable, lot of jeep builds under his belt) and the guy I spoke with, who has done lot of other work on my Jeep told me that the JK Aussie for the next gen D30 is designed to work with the stock carrier. Hence if you regear and change the carrier the JK-specific Aussie will not work correctly. (Maybe this is the reason for some people on this site reporting issues with the Aussie??) After he made a few calls around to different vendors, he determined that if I used a TJ D30 carrier for gearing 3.73 and up and use the TJ D30 Aussie it should work out fine. He quoted me a price on the Aussie for $250, $50 for the TJ D30 carrier, and then about $400 or so for the install, including gears. Total: $700. Main question: IS ALL OF WHAT HE SAID CORRECT????
Everything sounded like it should work and he believed he had worked everything out for me, I just felt I should double-check before I jump in. It seems to make sense considering that this thread is from early 2007 (before the JK-specific Aussie came out)...
Thanks for the help.
