Aussie Locker installed
I think David at Northridge4x4 is supposed to be test fitting a 44 soon. And Torq Masters say early 2008 for a new one built just for our new 44's.
And I don't think just any 30 will fit, you have to make sure the spline count is the same.
here is the model number and info from the Aussie site:
Aussie Locker XD-13027
OEM Axle: DANA
Axle Type: Model 30
Splines: 27
Cover Style: 10

good luck with the install, it's pretty straight forward.
I had 3.21 gears and went 5.13's no carriers needed.
FYI,
It looks like the folks that make the Aussie Lockers have approved it for the JK, at least with the Dana 30:

This is old news. They have had the 30 since the JK was out. they said we should be having the new 44 early this year too!
I love mine! no issues, just noisy around tight turns, like parking and stuff. but I love it! It makes a world of difference on the trail too. As soon as they get one for the 44, I'm gonna order, no questions asked! for the price and ease of install, I don't think you can beat it. Best mod for the buck for me.
That doesn't make much sense except they need to print some instructions for the JK. Its 30 spline and replaces the side and spider gears of the open carrier.
