I have the RCV's (because yes I blew up my D30 axles)... and I now am running the Synergies... but... when you say no JK has broken are you speaking of 44's in the front? just wishful thinking you are talking about ALL

I know I am on borrowed time with the D30 in the front but it has taken me through many an adventure and still going strong. It is sleeved, gusseted and RCV'd... and has an Atlas 4spd with 10.3 pushing it. So far I am amazed. I do however take it easy on the skinny : )

Excerpt from DW thread

7. Then, I would put the front axle on jack stands with the tires about 2" off the ground and check the front ball joints by using a long pry bar as a lever under the front tires to lift them up to inspect for up and down play in the lower ball joints. There shouldn't be more than maybe 1-2 mm.
8. Then, I would grab the top of the tire with both hands and push it towards the frame and pull it away from the frame to inspect for lateral movement of the top ball joints. There shouldn't be any.

Thanks! Are there any symptoms of them just starting to go? I have what feels like tires out of balance, but I'm 99% sure they are.

Have a look at this thread...

Thanks to Ronjenx post # 4 he does an excellent job of showing you what to look for. This is what I used to keep an eye on things while I was stock, for those 105,000KM.

The shop were I bought my wheels tires and lift noted the bottom ball joints are 'getting loose', and needed to be replaced. I didn't do them at this point (had to order them)...it was only days latter with the new tires I started to notice a slight 'shimmy' at 100 KM/hr....not DW, just a light shake.

New Syngery BJ installed.....rock solid now

I just had Synergy ball joints installed when I was having my D30 beefed up. I would say they're the best ones for the price. Dynatrac would be awesome but not on a regular budget. I also had them install Spicer u joints to hopefully avoid those breaking. Don't think it's worth putting RCVs in a D30.

Is it part of the making or transfer of power?

No. They are not covered.
