Their 3" lift did not lift my vehicle 3". I still don't clear 35's at full stuff. I get rubbing on the fender. The suspension is in alignment. Its all about the spring height.

You can read my complete saga with BDS at the following link, if you're interested.

Ah yes, I remember reading about that. Who did your install? As much as I like doing installs myself, I took it to a local shop becuase they warranty their work and if there was ever a problem they would fix it or deal with BDS. I currently clear 33" no problem. I could clear 35's but my shop said I might rub when fully articulated. They recommended running an additional 1" body lift if running 35's. Sorry to hear about your issues but you either got a bad set of springs or the install was done wrong. As far a quality - I haven't had any issues.

I just heard about the DBS and Zone lift kits.
Shop I talk to claim DBS is the best lift kit in the country. Is this true?

I would also say that's a pretty bold statement. I love my 3" lift but I also upgraded from the 5500 to the 9500 series shocks. For the money I'd say their very good. However from the research that I've done their control arms on their higher lifts are not the best. They'll get you by for a while but for serious offroading you're gonna want something with better joints. A lot of people on here really like Tera Flex but I think its because its a good product that is more Jeep Specific where BDS covers a multitude of vehicles like some of the other brands.
All in all every lift and brand has its strong and weak points and the ones that have little to no weak points are extremely expensive. It all depends on what you wanna do. If you wanna a true 3" suspension lift for less than 1k then BDS is a great option. I just recommmend the 9500 series shocks although the 5100 series are good. The 3" kit is about $750.

This kit comes with four new 3" Pro-Ride Coil Springs capable of full coil bind, bump stop extensions, front lower control arm cam bolts, front Ultimate Sway Bar Disconnects, rear sway bar drop brackets, rear track bar relocation bracket and BDS 5500 series shock absorbers.

Optional accessories for this 3" JK lift kit include a steering stabilizer and shock options.

Tire & Wheel Combinations
35" x 12.50" w/17 x 9 and 4-1/2" back spacing

Is the lift height of this kit a true 3inch? I don’t want to go taller.
I was going to go with the 2.5TF coil lift and that one is closer to a 3 inch lift from what I hear.

Its a true 3" lift. BDS also makes a 2" coil lift similar to the TF. Just keep in mind you'll still have a factory ride with the BDS 2" or the TF 2.5. My 3" rides way better than factory and also gives much more flex. Keep in mind with the 3" kit your getting new shocks and coils along with Sway Bar Disconnects. Nothing wrong with a coil lift if you just wanna up your tire size but if you want better performance spend a little extra for the suspension lift. you can fit 35's but I think my 33's look just fine. Don't forget BDS has the "No BS lifetime warranty" as well.

No, it is not a true 3". More like a 2-2.5"

If you think their warranty is "no BS" you might want to read about the BS they gave me when I tried for a warranty claim.

One last note: BDS sucks. Avoid them at all costs. You'll save money in the long run.

I bought a used 08 jku that I believe has a bds lift on it. It looks to me like is is not a true 3" and it still has the rake. Can I just buy new springs or should I invest in a whole new kit?

Thanks

The rear driveshaft angle isnt as steep after lifting a 4Dr so your CV boot will last much longer. The 2drs have to replace their shafts at some point do the angle the lift puts on it.
