Best tires for snow + mud
The 315/70R17 will be the closest 17" size in the Duratrac. These are right around 34.4" tall. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...ngler+DuraTrac

I researched carefully as I drive Jeep all winter in the snow but offroad quite a bit rest of the year. Anyway, came down to Duratrac and dick cepek fc-II. I went fcII (35x12.5r17) mostly just to be different from many running Duratracs. Happy with FCIIs but can't go wrong with Duratracs based on my exp with friends.
Either one quite good in snow (both siped) and decent in mud for A/T type tires.

Someone from my neck of the woods! I'm in Frederick. I have the 315/70/17 Duratracs and love them! If you haven't ever seen them in person and would like to, just let me know and I can meet up with you somewhere. I haven't had them in the snow yet but can attest to their flawless performance at Rausch Creek and on the very rainy roads/mud we have had lately. Plus, they are very friendly DD tires.
I run on 35x12.5x17
Mickey Thompson MTZ's in summer BUT switch to the Duratracs(same size 35x12.5x17) for the winter.... They have the snowflake symbol on the tire... so do really well on snow and ice. That's my concern up here in Canada..... They look nice and aggressive too. Good luck.

Got my DuraTracks (from Discounttiredirect.com) in January so only had them for a half snow season here in the upper Midwest but have to say they were FANTASTIC in the snow and ice. Even in the 22"+ blizzard we had in February. Hate to be a fanboy of anything but these tire are truly the beeswax for sure. Great on-road manners and confident in the snow/ice and off-road. Solid tire for sure!!
