Just for grins I ordered the Recon 10.5k winch. For less than $500 you get the winch with synthetic rope and accessory kit which includes tow rope, snatch block, D-Rings. Plus it has wireless built in and comes with wired and wireless controls. I've owned several trucks with Warn and have been somewhat of a loyal Warn customer. Yes, they make a good product but I've seen them fail as any brand will do. Yes, the Recon is made overseas but so are all the components of every brand on the market. A lot of the Cost in Warn brand is the name and the assembly of it in the USA. I've pulled my JKU out of deep mud twice and pulled a Lincoln that was hanging off a Driveway into a bar ditch and was using a single line pull without the snatch block everytime and the winch was barely warm.

I think Warn is a great product but I can honestly say the Recon that I bought seems to be just as good. I know thats a bold statement and I would love to see a side by side winch off. The only thing I don't know of yet is long term wear and tear, but now that I've seen the quality of both as far as usage and build quality of each product I'm willing to bet the Recon is built to last.

Keep in mind this is all opinion based on my personal experience with both products and my own experience in quality consturction and mechanical parts.

The 10.5k Recon is also listed as Waterproof and is wireless for less than $500.

I went with a Warn M-8000. Right now they have an $80 mail in rebate too. Great deal for a great winch.
