Default BFG KM2's tread wear

I have about 5,000 miles on a set of KM2's. I appears to me that they are wearing faster than I expected. I am curious to hear how others with these tires are experiencing wear. Please share your comments. Are they holding up to your expectations? Thanks

Mine are holding up fine. I have about 4,000 miles on them and they look relatively new. Make sure you are aligned correctly. If you aren't they are going to wear fast.

x2, also dont forget to rotate them regularly to help with the wear...

The tires were balanced when they put on and I had the jeep aligned some 5000 miles ago. I have done rotations including the spare. I know MT's wear faster because they are softer but it just seems faster than normal.

what are you comparing them too? what tires were you running before? if this is your first set of MT's then they will seem to be wearing faster then expected.

This is my first set of MT's and maybe that is what it is. I am comparing them to the BFG MT's that came on the jeep (rubi MT's) I have 15,000 on those before getting these and those have little to no wear on them at all. These just seem to be slipping away. There is still plenty of tread left, around 1/2 inch. Maybe I am just paranoid about having to foot that cost again too soon.

the BFG MT's are probably the best waering off road tire IMO...

how many k's are on the new KM2's? what was the original tread depth... i am sure i could find it online but i am lazy.

maybe get the alignment checked again, i know i have to check mine 3 times a year... but i beat my Jeep, cuz that is how she likes it

These tires IMO are amazing. I have had nothing but compliments. Now on to your question.

My buddy got a set of these 37" KM2's and he has maybe 5000 on them and they are wearing FAST. This is due to him getting new gears and holding the brake and roasting them at stop lights. He also has a Youkon lifted 8 inches so more weight there has produced faster wear IMO.

My Jeep has the 35"s and i have around 7000 on them and they are wearing like champs. No sign of wear except a few small signs. I love them and will not get any other tire ever again for the jeep.

I've read somewhere that the BFG KMs on the Rubi have a different rubber compound that is harder than the standard KM/KM2, presumably for better gas mileage. I have 13,000 on my stock Rubi KMs and they look like new (almost). Frankly, I wish they would wear faster so I feel justified in getting 35" KM2s!

5,000 miles on my so far and they still look mint. Mine are 35" KM2's that I put on in Dec 2007. I had 35" BFG Mud Terrain KM's on my 94 Wrangler and I would put the wear rate about the same. These tires are waaay smoother than the old KM's.
