Default Bikini Tops?

I know that this post might be just a little bit premature, but in less than a month I plan to have the soft top down and a bikini top of some sort on. To those of you out there who have purchased one what are the pro's and cons? Any recommendations for which one to go with? Do you have to purchase the channel that sits across the top of your windshield before installing certian types of bikini tops or is that the case with them all? Do they all stop the rain or just certian types?

Default Bikini

I always ran a bikini top on my YJ in the summer, so when I bought the JK I immediately went out and bought a bikini top for it. Well, what I found is that the new JK's soft top is so easy to put down and up that I didn't need the bikini. Anyway, it was quite a job to install the safari top. With the windows removed, your soft top is just like a safari top. So I ended up returning the bikini top. That's my story.....

If you don't have the factory softtop, with all of the attendant hardware, then I think the best answer is the Mopar Sunbonnet. That's what I did after RescueX had to buy $400-500 of additional hardware (channel and door frames). The Mopar version comes with the channel built in, doesn't have flapping problems without the door frames, and is a much cheaper answer. However, don't expect to be protected from a downpour--things are going to get wet. I can't say for the Bestop version, though.

I got the Bestop safari in the mesh( to help cut down on the Texas sun). I have test fitted it, quite a pain, but it was a little cold.
the Bestop will snap into the factory door frames for the soft top, or if you have them removed, they will velcro around the roll bars.
I think when it warms up, I am going to try the roll bar option, until it strechs a little, then test fit it again in the door frames.

I was hoping KoolBreeze would have their mesh tops with various flags available by now. I may end up going with the Bestop mesh. myklt8, does it require a windshield header bar?

Talking Good idea

I got the bikini, windjammer and back cover. Two door. It ins't water proof, but as long as you keep going forwards....

The windjammer give you a horrible blindspot, but you can fold it down on the drivers side between your headrest and rollbar to get rid of it.... I would say go for the bikini but you don't need a windjammer....

Default Mopar Bikini Top

I got the Mopar top for a decent discount from my jeep dealer (about 160 down from 214 list).

Pros: Quality is pretty good although I worry a bit about the plastic buckles
Requires no extra hardware if you already have a soft top
Looks better than the soft top with the doors off
Great Protection from the sun
Fabric is same as soft top so waterproof (for straight down rain)
Girlfriend complains less about heat when it's on

Cons: Heavy rain while driving pushes water around the back and into your head
Takes some time to get adjusted just right with all the straps

Here are some pics from the cell phone
