Body Armor side guards
I recently installed the side guards made by Body Armor. The problem I am having is that the side guards are contacting the body. It is contacting on the top inside corner of the side guard and bottom of the rocker on the outside of the pinch weld. I have tried washers to lower the side guards. That has helped. But when I hit a bump in the road it still contacts the body. Body Armor said that they have shipped hundreds of the side guards for the JK and this is the first that they have heard of it. Anyone have them or have had problems with them?

I think the problem could be fixed with some more washers and to die grinding the rear bolt hole. (the one that goes through the frame) This will allow it to sit lower away from the body. But by making the hole bigger it creates other problems. Like if I come down hard on something the rock rail could side up because the hole is bigger. Then when the body gets a little twist off road will they hit then? Maybe but for 500 bucks it should fit right.
I was hoping that someone on the board has them and could tell me if they have had any problems. Anyone?
They are hitting below the back door between the where the body is the lowest.
I like the way they look on the Jeep and they are just the right size for a step for my Wife and Daughter (had to get them before a lift kit).

The flat bar is a good idea. Thanks. I did receive a phone call from Body Armor and they are going to send me a new set. They said that a second person called and had the same problem. They tried a set on one of their Jeeps and it did not fit right. The rep that I was in contact with said that something must have happened to the jig. He said that he needs to get back from a show and check the new set before sending it out. So hopefully I will get it in 2 or 3 weeks. I am happy with the customer service. The rep listened to me and gave me his cell number. He called me on a Saturday to give me this info.

I just got back from vacation today and my Body Armor rock rails were laying in front of my garage. So I quickly unpacked and installed the driver's side...well, sort of.
The bolts they sent with the rails--the ones that are supposed to replace the OEM bolts--were the wrong thread. Did you have this problem?
Mine also hit the body
What is the number you used to call Body Armor? Sadly I need to call them on Monday. I'm really getting tired of waiting 3-4 weeks for something to be delivered...only to find out, "something must have happened to the jig." I heard the same thing from Warrior Products about my tube doors.Anyway, enough whining from me...please post or PM me the number you used to contact Body Armor please. I'm not really thrilled with how much the rails flex with even just the load of me pushing up on them.
The number I called was 951-808-0750. Also I had 4 extra bolts that were packed in the box separately. They were the right size. My guess is that when they first set up the bolt packages someone must have ordered the wrong size.
:( Mine didn't come with that 4 extra bolt package. I went to the NAPA store and got 4 of them at the low low price of 5.76/bolt. *yikes*
I called and talked to Body Armor today. I spoke with Fernando several times. The first time he said my problem was the OEM bolts--I agreed that they were too short, but not the reason the rail pressed tight against the body on the p-side. So I bought the bolts...and called him back. He insisted that if I install the rail correctly, it would fit correctly. He even suggested that I drive to the Quadratec store to have them help me install the rails--too far away, 3+ hours.
So Fernando walked me through the install, step by step. (Funniest thing is that it's a really easy install--three bolts, two for mounting, one for adjustment.) So after he *walked* me through the install, and I explained to him that the p-side rail was pressed tight against the body, he finally conceded and said that Angie would call me back to arrange shipping for return.
Did they send you a second set first...or did you have to send them back and then wait for the replacements?
There's really not much need for picutres on this...imagine a rectangular steel box pressed up tight against the underside of the rocker panel--that's what it looks like.
The problem isn't with Jeep, the p-side rail isn't welded/cut to fit correctly. There is no way the Jeep bodies vary enough to cause the problem I'm having--it doesn't have anything to do with the curve of the body, or the frame not being square as Fernando tried to tell me. Oh well, still waiting for my (4th) call back from Body Armor so I can get this resolved.
I had tried to call Mike on his cellphone--he's at a show in Florida--he hasn't called me back yet either.
