Body Armor side guards
I finally got a complete set (after 1 year after my initial order) and have used them quite a bit. The rails themselves are rock solid. The issue is with how the rails are mounted. The original design was a frame mount--this is why I went with BodyArmor. The redesign is a body mount. The rails mount basically the same way, and to the same mounting points as the plastic side steps. There are six small bolts in each pinch seam, and three (only) that attach to the underside of the body.
I've run my rails at Crozet and at Rausch Creek multiple times. For the most part, they've done their job. BUT, my drivers side rail has rotated up and into the body slightly--this was caused by a rock making contact with the outside edge of the rail just front of the vehicle center line. The entire rail rotated, bending the pinch seam out, and pull the three body mount bolts down--the underside of my JK's tub is now slightly deformed.
The torque created, due to the weight of the vehicle, when contact is made with the outside of the rail is too much for the three body mounting points--the complete failure of the mounting points would be catastrophic
I would recommend these rails for light to moderate wheeling only--if you plan on running rocks of any size, IMHO, you're risking destroying your tub. I have no problem with BodyArmor and I think they make some great products--the JK rails on the other hand have been a complete fiasco, again, in my opinion. The the rails themselves are as solid as you can get, but THE MOUNTING POINTS CANNOT FULLY SUPPORT THE RAILS. If you want more details, please pm me and I'll give you my phone number.
My plan is to replace my BodyArmor rails with Shrockwork's rails as soon as I can save enough money. Sad though...I do like how the BodyArmor rails look, and the do make a nice step for the family.

My body armor side rails are the new style that body mount. I don't plan on serious off road, just wanted looks and some protection on mild trails. I live in Ohio and after one month the welds are showing spots of rust. I contacted Body Armor and they said touch them up with a spray can. They said it was because of road salt in Ohio. I can tell you lots of products don't rust in Ohio after one month. These welds were not properly prepared before the finish was applied. It is only cosmetic, but for the cost I thought they would have a better lasting finish. I still like them, but not happy with the finish.
