Default Can a 2011 steering wheel be fitted to an 2007 unlimited rubi??

So yeh, pretty self explanatory. Mate purchased a 2011 jk and is turning it into a bit of a rock crawler. Hes stripping alot out of the inside and welding and using his own steering wheel.

For starters, can anyone indicate how this can be removed from his jk? Diagrams, or is it the same as an 07 removal? Ive got the service manual but im just assuming its going to be different, or should not be done at all (ie airbag).

If it is fine to do, is the airbag rendered useless, or can it still work with my 07 model? Im not fussed about the use of the controls on the steering wheel, I just like the new steering wheel....plus its free Im sure I can program or implement some sort of interface for the steering controls with my pioneer unit remote. Any help would be great, and ill keep this project updated here for anyone else considering doing the same.....

I still prefer the 07 interior though, just seems so much more.....tough

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I was also wondering if there were any better steering wheels for the JK. It seems like the new one would work?

I really doubt it. You'll have a completely different wiring harness inside the column to match up with.

not too worried about steering wheel controls, can wire that later. More concerned about whether or not the stock boss kit on mine is compatible with the new steering wheel from the 11 models. My mate doesnt wanna swap them over yet until he knows how to, hes scared to let me have a play incase i set his airbag off lol

Design changes cost money,Chrysler's broke I'd be willing to bet the only change in the wheel is cosmetic. I wouldn't be hesitant to attempt a swap.
